CONSTITUTION

ARTICLE I:

As Chartered by the RIDER Club, this Chapter shall be known as the STAR RIDERS OF HOUSTON and was organized on May 11, 1999.

The STAR RIDERS OF HOUSTON Rider Chapter will always use the terminology

"Chapter" when referring to its organization. The term "Club" always means RIDER.

This Chapter will only use the RIDER Club name in good taste and to promote the RIDER pledge and Chapter activities, and in a manner consistent with the general policies of the Club. The Chapter agrees to cease and desist from all use of the RIDER name and logo upon loss of its charter from the club for any reason.

ARTICLE II:

It is the purpose of this Chapter to operate a social organization to promote the use and enjoyment of motorcycles and outdoor fellowship among its members through trips and group activities. This Chapter shall maintain an attitude that is strictly non-brand, non-sectarian, non-partisan, non-sectional, and non-racial, and shall be dedicated to bringing together people interested in the ideals and principles of its Members. .

ARTICLE III:

The Membership will have a minimum of ten (10) subscribers to RIDER Magazine at any time.

ARTICLE IV:

Section 1 - Officers of the Chapter shall be the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Ride Coordinator.

President - Presides at all meetings, appoints all committees, supervises all Chapter activities.

Vice-President - Conducts all meetings in the temporary absence of the President, coordinates activities of all Chapter committees. In the event of resignation or removal of the President, the Vice-President assumes the President's position.

Secretary - Records and publishes the minutes of all meetings of the Chapter with the time and place of the meeting, the names of those present at Chapter meetings and the proceedings thereof. Receives, reads, and answers all correspondence after action taken by membership at meetings, or at the discretion of the Chapter President.

Treasurer - Shall have the custody of all funds, securities, and assets of the Chapter. Responsible for keeping full and accurate records of all receipts and disbursements, and reporting to Chapter Members all such receipts and disbursements made on a monthly basis.

Ride Coordinator - Plans out, with the President, all activities, tours, local runs, directions, and stops. Sets up and enforces road rules.

Section 2 - Officers will be elected once a year. Each Officer's term will be one year.

Section 3 - Nominations for office positions will be held in November at the business meeting and elections shall be held either at the Toy Run function or at December's business meeting . New Officers will take office at the first meeting in January. .

Section 4 - Nominations may be made by a Chapter Member in good standing, in person, at the designated meeting.

Section 5 - All Chapter Members in good standing are entitled to vote. The voting shall take place by written ballot supplied to each Member, in good standing, present at the election meeting or by email ballot sent to all members in good standing after the nominations meeting and returned no later than 8:00 pm the night before the election meeting. The ballots will be tallied and winners announced. Challenges to the vote must be made before adjournment of the election meeting.

Section 6 - No person shall hold more than one office concurrently.

Section 7 - A roster of newly elected Officers and all Chapter Members must be sent annually to RIDER CLUB Headquarters.

Section 8 - In the event of resignation or if a Chapter Officer cannot fulfill his/her duties, the President may, at his/her discretion and with the approval of other Members of the Executive Committee, call a special election.

ARTICLE V:

Section 1 - Amendments to this Constitution & By-Laws shall be made only with the approval of a quorum at a business meeting. A quorum shall exist when 15 Chapter Members in good standing are present or their proxy is present. Amendments may be voted on at any business meeting as long as they have been announced at the previous business meeting and by email for two weeks prior to the meeting and have been posted on the chapter's website. Any member in good standing can vote by attending the business meeting or appointing a proxy.

 

BY-LAWS

ARTICLE I:

Section 1 -Chapter dues are twenty dollars yearly ($20.00). Dues are to be paid on or before June 1 of each year to the Secretary. Initial membership for all new Members is $25. New Members will pay yearly dues in the first full year of membership following the initial year the new Member joined.

Section 2 - Members failing to vote in the officers election will no longer be in good standing.

Section 3 - The conduct of each Chapter Member during Chapter activities shall be at all times a credit to the Chapter and to RIDER CLUB.

Section 4- All Members will ride safely and in according to the Chapter's Riding Rules as posted on the official Web site of The Star Riders of Houston. Failure to comply to the Chapter's Riding Rules may result in revocation of the Member's membership and riding privileges with the
Chapter.

Section 5 - Members in this Chapter will no longer be in good standing for failure to comply with the above stated requirements. Good standing can be renewed by complying with the above stated requirements.

ARTICLE II:

Section 1 - Business Meetings shall be held on the second Thursday of each month.

Section 2 - Special meetings may be called by the Chapter President.

Section 3 - "Robert's Rules of Order, Revised" shall govern all business meetings, which will be conducted according to the President assuming office.
